The Awareness Factor…

by Rob on September 26, 2009

Quick one today…

Stop believing what the newspapers and TV talking heads tell you is going on, and observe for yourself…

(for the most part the main stream media in the US are nothing more than glorified Obama cheerleaders and you can’t count on them for objectivity in anything)…

Watch the financial news on the Internet– not just the stock market rally– look at how industries are faring.  Look at the real estate sales figures and automobile sales and factory orders.

The only areas that are showing any temporary “growth” are those areas that are subsidized heavily by the government.  (cash for clunkers, first time home buyer $8000 credit, bank bailouts,…)

Does anyone really think that the rest of the world is going to allow us to borrow $1.5-$2 TRILLION per year (enough money to make more than a million people millionaires) for very much longer?

There are good reasons to be concerned about the US economy and the banking system.  And the EU isn’t in much better shape with all of their worthless loans to emerging countries on the books still.

Be aware of what is going on, don’t be surprised… BE PREPARED!

Totally. The mainstream media is entertainment for the masses and offers very little in the way of useful information. The media appear to be soothing and reassuring people everything will be alright. IMHO this is much more likely to make things worse in the long run. Best that folks face reality rather so they can prepare better. TG your here!

Always good to be prepared than sorry.

Since you’ve worked in IBM before, think you’ve heard about the joke of a customer visit made together by a Customer Serivce Rep, Systems Engineer and a Sales Rep when their car has blown one of the tires. ….

The punch line is when the sale rep says, “Don’t worry. We’ll arrive safe & sound at the customer’s place. He won’t even notice what ’s happened to our car!”

You hit it right on the nose. The problem is people do not dig far enough into any news, they only look at the surface, believing what their main influences says. Perception is reality.

Rob,
Quick, but very important. I’m amazed at how the masses just take the highlights of the news and run with it.

And how the media has no accountability.

I am with Lynn on the no accountability thing with the media.

So many people just believe what is in writing or what is said on the television… Kind of sad, so…

We’ll just have to be prepared.

Thanks,

Great post!

So much is out of hands, so it is just best to be prepared.

Appreciate the different things you bring up that we should consider.

Perception is detached from reality because the media system is designed that way. We cannot depend on the mainstream media to inform us of the truth, because it is their job to conceal the truth from us.

Sad really.

I watch very little news – most of the time it is depressing and people feed on that and add to it with their own view which sometimes is even worse.

It’s crazy that so many people are not in touch with reality and it seems to be the media’s fault.

The media do not seek truth, just a popular story. Once they’ve spun their yarn they move on, without a backward glance at what they’ve written in the past. There’s no follow-up and no accountability. The media are a totally unreliable source of information.

Therefore…be prepared…anything could happen!

I’m with Lynne and James. Imagine if people/the media had to be accountable for their part?

I had to give up TV and radio around 1996. I just couldn’t stand the hypocrisy and perpetuation of stupidity. You’re right, media players have no real interest in diving for truth – it’s too hard apparently.

Thinking and observing . . .

Great post. My wife and I get our news from the internet. We are beginning to become more prepared for a disaster using the information in your blog.

If the internet stopped I’d be on berries and grass for sure. TV/radio, don’t care, but cut off my internet and it’ll be a very quiet house.

Hi Rob,

I so appreciate how you didn’t just leave us with the accurate assessment that the mainstream media has its own agenda. I value and admire how you cited what TO look at how to develop our own awareness. Reminds me of the Macro Economics course I took through UC Berkeley a Senior Economist from Bank of America. He was superb and sage.
