it seems to me that if people dollar cost average into gold and silver, each month that they will sleep better at night.

the fed will report we are out of recession (They just printed a trillion dollars and stuck it in the economy….talk about GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCTION) but it’ll “be back” in april when they report for first quarter ’10.

Can’t remember….anyway….

I agree that having some gold and silver makes one sleep better at night. It is also a strangely satisfying thing to acquire and you don’t feel the temptation to spend it like other savings…

At least that has been my experience…

Thanks for stopping by,
Rob

Ooooooooo gold, gold, gold! I am hearing Burl Ives singing “Silver and Gold” and I have visions of that Snowman with the umbrella sliding around the north pole!!!!

Ok, going to buy my gold with my babysitting money. Great library page!

Rob,
I think you have a great idea. I used to be an EMT in another life and our rescue team used “Bugging Out” often.

The things you teach will be priceless. I know I’m ready to learn.

Hmmm, does survival include “street cred”? ;) If so, there are some rappers who appear to be ahead of the game.

As you know, I am a HUGE advocate of owning gold and silver. Every one should have some because, WTSHTF paper simply won;t be worth very much.

Hey Rob! Glad you are around dishing out this kind of reccommendation. I’ve been telling my friends (particularly those in the US) that they need to buy gold/silver. I say they need a small stash on them. I think they think I’m crazy. I just tell them I care about them. Now your around, I’ll send them over here.

Hi Rob,

it’s ok to have Gold also because it’s really REALLY pretty, yes? ;)

Excellent point.

Gold is actual CURRENCY. It IS money. Not… pieces of paper with a promissory note.

Rob,

Nice page. Question for you: in the event of a major financial collapse, do you envision gold coins being used to buy goods in the same way that cash is used to buy goods today?

Darryl,

Good question…

Based on what I have read on this subject, I imagine that gold will be used for very large purchases, like a horse and saddle or some cows, or guns and ammo, etc.

Or gold could be traded for a quantity of silver that can be used for smaller trades. Think of gold as your $1000 bills and the silver as the smaller bills– $100, $50, $20, $10, $5…

People could also accept parts of cut-up gold coins that are then weighed to establish the value. (kind of like pieces of eight in the olden days of yore)…

Glad you like the page!
