Today, a new book is being released by one of the major figures in the modern survival and emergency preparedness community, James Wesley Rawles…

He is very readable and this book addresses many of the issues that I talk about in this buggingin.com blog…

Jam-packed chapters include:

  • Food Storage: How much to store, pack-it-yourself methods, storage space and rotation, countering vermin.
  • Fuel and Home Power: Home heating fuels, fuel storage safety, backup generators.
  • Garden, Orchard Trees, and Small Livestock: Gardening basics, non-hybrid seeds, greenhouses; livestock.
  • Medical Supplies and Training: Building a first aid kit, minor surgery, chronic health issues.
  • Communications: Following international news, staying in touch with loved ones.
  • Home Security: Your panic room, self-defense training and tools.
  • When to Get Outta Dodge: Vehicle selection, kit packing lists, routes and planning.
  • Investing and Barter: Tangibles investing, building your barter stockpile. And much more.

Cool. I will read it while listening to “R.E.M.’s” song with the same title!

My fear is that we will need this book sooner rather than later.

Great book Rob. We had a tsunami in Samoa and I only just heard about it by accident (engrossed in the internet). Events like these show we need to be prepared for disaster.

    James Wesley Rawles…?

Did he write a previous book titled “TEOTWAWKI” back in late 1990’s?

His new book remind me the survival kit that I bought for the Y2K period.
