$3 Trillion…

by Rob on September 17, 2009

This year, the Federal GOvernment is spending about $3 Trillion…

Since the Federal Government is just all of us US citizens all added together, and there are about 300 million of us this means that they are spending $10,000 for each man, woman and child in America.   So, for the average family of 4, the government has decided to spend $40,000…

Now the only way to collect this money is through taxes and even though we pay high taxes (at least the top 10% pays a lot of taxes) we are not paying enough to cover the spending that the government has decided is essential to spend on our behalf.  The amount of taxes collected is about $1.2 Trillion which is $4,000 for every man, woman and child in America ($16,000 for a family of four)

To recap, for a family of four:

They spend in our name $40,000
They collect in taxes from us $16,000
They borrow (deficit spending) from our future ability to spend $24,000…

So, even though Americans are getting rid of personal debts and credit cards at the fastest pace in history, the Federal government is borrowing on our behalf $24,000 each family THIS YEAR.  By the end of the next ten years, we will each be another $200,000 per family in further debt…

This is unsustainable. And the government has no good options to get out of the situation.  They can only confiscate so much wealth from the private sector– there is only so much productivity and income available.  If they try to cut back in any way on spending, interest groups howl because they want the money.  And they have the audacity to want to add even more huge bloated government programs on top of the ones that we already can’t afford.

We live in interesting times.

Good grief! Your Government needs to have the debtclock in a prominant place. Hope everyone out there is stocked up on silver (easier medium of exchange than gold).

Scary stuff. Looks like we may well have to bug-in because of their bail-out?

In the UK, I think the spend to be recouped was something like £12,000 per taxpayer PLUS making up the ongoing shortfall in tax revenues arising from the recession – at least the same again.

Great job putting the information out there so all can understand. We, the general public, have to budget ourselves or we go bankrupt. The government just keeps taking from us, and printing more money.

Sad affair.

The dollar is being intentionally destroyed by criminals and traitors in the highest levels of government with the aim of dismantling the Republic, the only system of government in the history of mankind to be established of, by and for the people.

Well, have I covered everything?

I don’t need a trillion dollars, a couple million will be fine! Your scaring me with this stuff. I’m thinking I should brush up on my sewing so that when money has no value and we have to trade to get things we need, I’ll have a valuable trade! My kids can weave baskets!

Yeah, actually, the $40,000 per person can be put in even greater perspective, according to the Treasury, there are 138Million tax payers….

That means: an additional $21, 739 in new debt per tax payer this year.

This is on top of of the $10Trillion already on the books as of last September, or roughly $72,456 owed per American tax payer.

Leverage can be useful, but this is stupid-leverage.

More zeros than heros on that one. Why do we fund so many things at the government level . . . I don’t want my government messing with my community, that’s my responsibility!
